The Goat Island 5K & 10K Grind - Sunday - Pick Your Poison
The 10K for 2025! Distance, technical navigation skills, a beautiful variety of water and wind conditions. Race begins at Windjammer Park with a beach start. 50 yards out to your first 90-degree right hand buoy turn. Make a counterclockwise turn around Windjammer Island and watch out for the shallow shore on the backside! Cut diagonal across the main channel where wind and boat waves may be at their best. Upon reaching the far shore you are required to stay on the outside of the buoy and begin your 2-mile trek following shoreline coves into Big Allison. Halfway through your race you will make a left hand 180 degree turn around the large Goat Boater Buoy making your way back. On your way back you will take a different path veering further south to Goat Island. Make a counterclockwise turn around the outside of the Island and back to the buoy on the West side of the main channel. When you hit this buoy, you make your last 90-degree right hand turn to sprint across the main channel through the PuckerButt Pepper Company Shark Finish Line for a sandy beach finish with paddle in hand!

The Goat Boater, located in Tega Cay, South Carolina was created by Megan Cynowa. Goat Boater has hosted 25 SUP Races to date and for 2025 is offering an extremely unique 3 event summer race weekend that attracts many Southeast U.S. paddlers as well as national and international paddlers alike. This race weekend consists of technical sprints, a mid-range & a longer distance paddle and fun runs on both days for all level paddlers. Each race of the weekend will be different, unique, and include a short fun run and ALWAYS a 1-mile social paddle afterwards!
Come challenge your skills over the weekend at a beautiful location on Lake Wylie, South Carolina. These locations were strategically picked as they have great high up views where spectators and family will be able to view most races.
