Race 8: The 12K, our longest race of the series. 7.5 miles of water up a beautiful stretch of main channel on Lake Wylie with a view of Buster Boyd Bridge before the halfway point turn. Start at Windjammer Park with a sand beach start. Sprint 50 yards out to the Monster Red Bouy and make your right hand turn to head 6k up the lake. When you start seeing the bridge you know you are close to the next monster red bouy to make a right hand turn and make your way back to Windjammer. Prior to finishing you will need to make a last minute left hand turn around the starting bouy again, sprint to the beach for a running finish up the sand with your paddle in hand! This race caters to those who like endurance racing and a steady cadence. Remember you can have bragging rights for doing well in any of the 9 individual Goat Boater season races, yet this is a 9 race series and ultimate glory will be awarded to those who complete at least 6 races for season standings, trophies and awards.
